Project: Create a GPLv3-free VirtualPC image of Sage

Microsoft Research in Redmond wants to use Sage, but for legal and political reasons won't use VMware and won't use any GPLv3 only code. This project is to create a VirtualPC version of Sage that uses a version of Linux with no GPL v3 code in it.

There is financial support available for working -- and maintaining -- this version of Sage.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Some Windows and Linux administration skills.
• Some Sage skills (i.e. extracting the GPLv3 components from Sage -- which is probably pretty trivial at this point); you'll get help on this.

This could lead to a more substantial summer job doing further porting work, visits to Microsoft, etc.
